Background: Mr. Catenacci joined the firm in 2008 and became a partner in 2014. Mr. Catenacci focuses his practice on the representation of multiemployer employee benefit plans, with a particular emphasis on health and welfare plans. Mr. Catenacci has extensive experience with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and advises clients on the full range of issues that affect health and welfare plans, including plan design, plan drafting, appeals and appeals procedures, plan mergers, preparation of Summary Plan Descriptions, as well as general compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Internal Revenue Code (IRC).

Mr. Catenacci also represents various clients with respect to complex alternative investments. He regularly works with Qualified Plan Asset Managers (QPAMs), Venture Capital Operating Companies (VCOCs), Real Estate Operating Companies (REOCs) and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), as well as fund of funds investment vehicles employing master/feeder structures. Mr. Catenacci has experience with representing borrowers and lenders relative to construction financing, loan restructuring, and commercial lease agreements.

In addition, in connection with his representation of multiemployer plans, Mr. Catenacci routinely deals with collection matters related to fringe benefit delinquencies. He has extensive experience with not only standard delinquencies, but also collection actions involving the use of alter ego/"double-breasted" structures by signatory employers. Mr. Catenacci has litigated these matters in a variety of federal district courts, as well as in the Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Catenacci was employed in a national security related position where he held a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.

Education: Mr. Catenacci earned his Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University School of Law. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Professional Affiliations: Mr. Catenacci is a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), the Michigan Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems (MAPERS), as well as the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Michigan State Bar. Mr. Catenacci is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, the Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, as well as the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
